The section below provides answers to frequently asked questions regarding our PLASMA products. We hope it will help clear some queries you may have as well.

How big heavy/heavy is the Plasma TV? Can it be wall mountable?
The plasma screen is 42 inches (diagonal measurement), and the entire unit is approximately 103cm wide, 65cm high and 9cm thick. You can mount the screen on a wall, it just like hanging a picture. Keep in mind that it weighs about 30kg without a stand, 35 Kg with stand. For wall mounting, you can purchase an optional wall bracket from us.

Is the wall mounting equipment included in my purchase?
No. A table stand is included with your Sun Group Plasma TV. A wall-mounting bracket is offered as an optional item for an additional cost.

Do Sun Group Plasma TV's have built in speakers?
Yes our Plasma units do have build in speakers. Please also note that currently most other Plasma sets do not have built in speakers.

How do you plug in the Plasma TV? Where are the wires for the speakers and other components connected?
Connect the Plasma TV to its main power source by inserting the power cord into the back of the wall unit and plugging it into a wall outlet or surge protector. Your Plasma TV has extensive audio and video connections for connecting to your digital set-top box, computer, DVD player, VCR or video camera and other peripherals.

How do I position my speakers? Where do the wires run in my living room?
If you have purchased a five-speaker surround sound package, you will need to install the speakers around your living room for a true home theater experience. The optimal arrangement features speakers at the front and back of the room. Wires can be positioned along baseboards and at wall corners.

I already have a home theater system with five speakers and a DVD player. Will this equipment work with the Plasma TV?
The Sun Group Plasma TV has extensive audio and video connections, so you should be able to connect it with existing home theater equipment.

Can the Plasma TV's be used as a computer monitor as well?
Yes, our plasma TV's have a 15-Pin VGA input which will allows the user to connect the screen to a computer to be used as a computer monitor.

Can the Plasma display be used as a TV and PC monitor at the same time?
Sun Group's Plasma TV has a VGA/RGB port connection so you can connect to your PC. The Plasma TV can also be used alone as your PC monitor, you can watch TV and use your PC at the same time.

The onboard digital scaling engine accepts various computer signals and maps them to fit within 852 X 480 pixels. Compatible signals display resolutions up to 1280 X 1024. The maximum physical display resolution of the external monitor is 640 X 480 dots when the aspect ratio is set to 4:3, and 852 X 480 dots when the aspect ratio is 16:9.

Does a Higher Resolution mean it will have better picture quality?
Not necessarily. A higher resolution screen setting may not always give you better picture quality. Screens that are a higher resolution tend to have the best picture when used with a high definition signal. Some lower resolution monitors will have a better picture when viewing DVD's.

Can I watch two channels at the same time on the Plasma TV screen (PIP/POP)?
Yes. Picture-in-Picture (PIP) allows you to watch two programs simultaneously with four selectable window positions. Picture-on-Picture (POP) allows you to watch two programs side by side. PIP/POP is available when your video source is set to TV, AV, S-Video, Component 1 or Component 2. For example, you can watch two analog TV programs simultaneously with PIP/POP by using the built-in TV tuner and an external tuner such as the one inside your VCR. You can also watch analog TV and a DVD movie at the same time.

However, if your video source is from an RGB or DVI source, or in some instances from component video sources such as HDTV signals, progressive scan DVD, or a laptop or computer connection, then PIP and POP will not function. The Plasma TV also has three viewing modes: 16:9 aspect ratio, 4:3 aspect ratio, and panorama mode.

What warranties are included with my Plasma TV?
A one-year standard limited warranty is included with your Sun Group Plasma TV. However, you have the option of purchasing an extended two warranty.

What exactly is a Plasma screen?
A basic plasma screen consists of two thin sheets of glass containing tiny, gas-filled cells. Electronic current stimulates the cells to produce light and color, creating a bright, steady, vivid picture.

What does HDTV really mean?
High-Definition Television, or HTDV, is a new broadcasting standard that transmits television programs using computer code. These signals can carry a much greater amount of data because the information can be compressed and then displayed on a wide-screen format television. Televisions equipped to receive digital signals can display incredibly sharp, bright, high-resolution images and better sound, because the signal is able to support a wider range of frequencies

Is the Sun Group Plasma TV HDTV ready?
The Sun Group Plasma TV is EDTV-ready, which is the middle-range option for digital programming. HDTV offers the highest resolution available, but commands a much higher price tag. Your Sun Group Plasma TV will deliver a higher resolution than your analog set at an entry-level price

What equipment do I need to watch digital TV?
In addition to your Sun Group Plasma TV, you will also need to access digital service. To receive most digital programming, your in-home equipment must have a digital tuner decoder box, usually obtained through the satellite or cable company providing your digital service. The box translates the digital signal for broadcast on the screen.

Can I upgrade my Sun Group Plasma TV to handle HDTV programming?
Sun Group's Plasma TV is high-definition compatible and works with most satellite and digital cable set top boxes. The TV can be connected to an external high-definition decoder box to receive digital or 1080I and 720p high-definition signals.

To receive high-definition digital programming, you should have a digital tuner decoder box, usually obtained through the satellite or digital cable service subscription process. The box translates the digital signal for broadcast on the screen.

Once you have your digital programming service connected, you are ready for NFL Football, Olympic events, your favorite TV shows and more events broadcast in HDTV.

What kind of built-in tuner is in my Sun Group Plasma TV?
Your Plasma TV has a built-in analog tuner, so you don't need to rely on an external receiver to get regular (analog) TV programming.
